Born in Bengal, in 1924, ARUP DAS, graduated from the Government College of Arts and Crafts Calcutta, in the 1940s. In the 1960s, he became a member of All India Fine Arts and Crafts Society, New Delhi. Das was a figurative painter and muralist. had several shows in India and abroad. He won the national award from the Lalit Kala Akademi in 1957 and the President’s silver plaque in 1957. His works are in several notable collections including the National Gallery of Modern Art. He passed away in 2004.
