Krishnendu Porel

"From the days when man lived in caves, through the Indus Valley dwellings, the Mughal palaces and the colonial mansions, down to our humble DDA apartments, it's architecture that carries the stamp of the age."-  Krishnendu Porel

Born in West Bengal in 1965, Krishnendu Porel graduated from the Government College of Arts, Kolkatta with a first class and a gold medal. He completed his education with a postgraduate degree from the Benaras Hindu University, once again passing with flying colours and a medal.

Whenever I draw without any preoccupied composition I get immense pleasure as drawing is my basic instinct. The lines I draw give birth of new forms and automatically the forms become the parts of elements of architecture as it is in my imagery.

I do prefer French conte or charcoal as a medium as these are very soft. The movement, rhythm and different types of pressure onto the surface give me a physical pleasure. Sometimes while drawing a tender soft line on paper gives me a feeling like a responsible mother caring a baby!
