M.J. Enas

 MJ Enas born 1962 at Kannor in Kerala did his initial degree in sculpture at the Fine Arts College, Thiruvanathapuram and his Master’s in sculpture from the College of Fine Art in New Delhi, where he currently teaches. MJ’s work comes in an eclectic interplay of space and substance, narrative and iconic, and tradition and contemporaneity. His forms appear inspired by his training, as a priest, in a Jesuit seminary and in a  uropean post modernism streak. He plays with materials to build the textures with meticulous precision in his sculptural compositions. Arecipient of the State Lalit Kala Award, Kerala he also won the Charles Wallace India Trust award to work at the Berllanderi Sculpture Studio in the U.K. His works has been exhibited extensively at Delhi, Mumbai, and Kottayam in India and at Warburg and Berlin amongst others. It can be seen in several public and private collections including the National Gallery of Modern Art, the Garden of Five Senses and Jawaharlal Nehru University in Delhi and Shilparamam, Hyderabad. Enas lives and works in Delhi.
