Born in West Bengal in 1961, Bhattacharjee graduated from The Indian College of Arts & Draftsmanship in 1986 and received gold medal from Rabindra Bharati University in the same year. He has held eleven solo shows of his work to date, four each in Kolkata and New Delhi, two in Bengaluru and one in Chennai. He has also been a part of a two person show that toured Bengaluru, Singapore and Mumbai. He has participated in more than 60 group shows across India and abroad, and his works have been included in XIth Triennale, India.

He lives and works in Kolkata.
